Brentech is very often engaged in kinematic analysis activities on articulated mechanisms and structural checks of components depending on their field of application.
A complex analysis and verification project relating to a lighting mechanism of a process plant has recently been developed. The customer relied on Brentech to carry out all the analyzes and checks on this mechanism, necessary to achieve the requirements imposed by the CE regulations in terms of safety.
What a KINEMATIC ANALYSIS is
Kinematic Analysis is a sequence of mathematical procedures allowing to describe the characteristics of the motion of a mechanism, i.e. its position, velocity and acceleration in space. Thanks to this investigation it is possible to identify the trend profile of the forces at play in the system and define the critical operating conditions necessary for the subsequent structural analysis.
Why did the customer apply to Brentech?
Depending on its field of application in the lighting sector, the customer presented the design of the mechanism and the mandatory constraints to Brentech, a mechanical design company from Schio (Vicenza), with the need to proceed with the kinematic analysis and subsequent structural verification.
How Brentech faced the customer’s request
After a careful preliminary analysis of the commissioned mechanism, the Brentech technical team analyzed the forces acting on it, obtaining the most demanding configuration. This was used as a limit case of use on which we continued, through FEM analysis, the structural verification of all the components and all the joints of the system.
Timeliness and completeness satisfied the customer
From the forces obtained from the kinematic analysis Brentech moved on to the structural verification of the articulated mechanism in a very fast and complete management. The discussion with the customer and the sending of feedback and proactive and improving advice with a view to satisfying the set objectives was constant. The safety coefficients obtained from the verification were compared and aligned with those imposed by the Regulations to allow the production of all the technical documentation necessary to obtain the CE marking of the process machine.
The project encountered such a great interest so as it became the subject of a degree thesis in Mechanical Engineering.
