Testing of a new “Bin Picking” automation

For a customer who needed an improvement in the production process, Brentech implemented a new automation involving the recognition and picking of components distributed randomly inside a container.

This technology involves the use of multiple cameras or multiple laser sensors to virtually “reconstruct” the actual positioning of the components and allow the robot to intelligently “choose” the piece most likely to be grabbed.

The strong point of the system is the reconstruction of the three-dimensional geometry of the element to be taken and its subsequent selection from a multitude of similar elements.
